awaited trade between Pakistan and Iran under the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) will commence from September 1 this year. “Both the countries will start reducing tariffs on the items which will be traded under PTA from September 1 and this will give substantial impetus to the exports of Pakistani products to Iran,” Commerce Secretary Syed Asif Shah said. “We had received two weeks ago the formal communication from Iranian high-ups that Tehran had ratified the PTA.” Pakistan has already ratified the PTA with Iran. Now the notification of PTA will be formally issued within days and it will be operational from September 1, 2006.
