Israeli aircraft dropped leaflets over parts of Beirut on Thursday, saying Israel would widen its offensive on Hizbollah-dominated southern suburbs of the capital and warning residents there to leave. "To the residents of Hay al-Sellom, Burj al-Barajneh, and Shiyah, for your own safety, you must flee those suburbs immediately," said the leaflets in Arabic and signed "The State of Israel". "After the continued launching of Hizbollah terrorist rockets...the IDF (Israeli Defence Forces) intends to widen its offensive on Beirut," it was quoted as saying by Reuters. The warning was issued as Hizbollah fighters fought Israeli troops pushing towards the Shi'ite Muslim town of Khiam in southeast Lebanon on Thursday. On Monday, at least 41 people were killed and 61 injured in an Israeli air strike in the southern Shi'ite Shiyah district.
