British Prime Minister Tony Blair said on Saturday there could be a ceasefire in Lebanon within the next couple of days after the United States and France agreed on a draft U.N. Security Council resolution, according to Reuters. Blair called the agreement a "vital first step" and "an important breakthrough" in attempts to resolve the 25-day-old conflict between Israel and Lebanese Hizbollah that has killed at least 734 people in Lebanon and 78 Israelis. Once the resolution was adopted by the full Security Council there should be "a full cessation of hostilities at that point on both sides", Blair said. "There is still much to be done. But there is no reason why this resolution should not be adopted now and we have the cessation of hostilities literally within the next couple of days," he said in a statement broadcast on television.
