AT LEAST 11 PEOPLE WERE KILLED IN VIOLENCE AROUND IRAQ ON SUNDAY, INCLUDING FIVE PEOPLE KILLED WHEN A BOMB EXPLODED NEAR A MINIBUS ON A HIGHWAY SOUTH OF BAGHDAD BETWEEN MAHMUDIYA AND ALEXANDRIA, EYEWITNESSES SAID, ACCORDING TO DPA. IN A SEPARATE INCIDENT, A US AIRSTRIKE KILLED FOUR PEOPLE AND INJURED ANOTHER SIX ON SUNDAY IN A VILLAGE NEAR RAMADI, 110 KILOMETRES WEST OF BAGHDAD, AN IRAQI POLICE SOURCE CLAIMED. A US JET FIGHTER POUNDED THREE HOUSES IN THE VILLAGE OF BAW DHEYAB NORTH OF RAMADI, COMPLETELY DEMOLISHING THE HOUSES, THE SOURCE SAID. THE US MILITARY DID NOT COMMENT ON THE AFFAIR. IN FURTHER VIOLENCE, AN IRAQI POLICEMEN WAS KILLED AND ANOTHER INJURED WHEN A ROADSIDE BOMB STRUCK A POLICE PATROL IN CENTRAL FALLUJAH, 70 KILOMETRES WEST OF THE CAPITAL, A POLICE SOURCE SAID. FOLLOWING THE EXPLOSION, THE POLICEMAN DETAINED TWO SUSPECTS NEAR THE SITE OF THE BLAST, THE SOURCE SAID. IN A SEPARATE ATTACK, A ROADSIDE BOMB EXPLODED WHEN A PASSENGER BUS WAS PASSING NEAR MAHAWEEL, 80 KILOMETRES SOUTH OF BAGHDAD, KILLING THE DRIVER AND ANOTHER CIVILIAN AND INJURING 10 OTHERS, A POLICE SOURCE SAID.
