U.S. President George W. Bush still opposes calling for an immediate ceasefire in the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, White House spokesman Tony Snow said Friday Speaking to the press just minutes before Bush met with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Snow said the president has not altered his position. “The president wants a ceasefire, the president does not want to see the [conflict] continue, and that's one of the reasons why you have to have a ceasefire under the proper conditions,” Snow said. Snow did not address remarks by Blair's spokesman, who suggested before the Bush-Blair meeting that the British Prime Minister wants a U.N. Security Council resolution on Lebanon within a week.
