Pakistan has strongly condemned the Israeli attack on Beirut airport resulting in loss of many innocent lives and widespread damage to property and infrastructure, says an official statement. Pakistan urged the UN Security Council, major powers and the Quartet to act immediately and resolutely to stop the attacks and the spiralling violence and put the peace process back on track. The statement said that the attack was a flagrant violation of Lebanese sovereignty and contravenes the norms and principles of the UN Charter. It added that the aerial bombardment of Beirut airport and the naval blockade of Lebanese waters announced by the Israeli government represented a dangerous escalation.
