THE UNITED NATIONS EDUCATIONAL, SCIENTIFIC AND CULTURAL ORGANIZATION (UNESCO) HAS COMMENDED THE GREAT AND ACTIVE ROLE PLAYED BY SAUDI RELIEF COMMITTEE FOR PALESTINIAN PEOPLE IN THE FIELD OF SUPPORTING EDUCATION IN PALESTINE WHICH EXCEEDED SR 130,168,578. IN A DETAILED REPORT RECENTLY ISSUED BY UNESCO, THE ORGANIZATION SAID FOLLOWING THE SIGNING OF A JOINT MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING AMONG THE COMMITTEE, THE ORGANIZATION AND PALESTINIAN MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND HIGHER EDUCATION, THE WORK STARTED ON THE PROJECT OF PROVIDING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY STUDENTS OF HIGHER EDUCATION ALONG WITH THE PALESTINIAN UNIVERSITIES. THE ORGANIZATION TRANSFERRED 90 PERCENT OF THE APPROPRIATED AMOUNTS SINCE EARLY MARCH TO 11 UNIVERSITIES AND 23 COLLEGES, THE REPORT SAID AND ADDED THAT MORE THAN 19,000 STUDENTS BENEFITED FROM THE GRANTS. THE REPORT NOTED THAT THE FIRST TRANCHE RECEIVED FROM THE COMMITTEE AMOUNTED TO SR 28,497,849 WHICH REPRESENTS 50 PERCENT OF THE COMMITTEE'S COMMITMENT TO THE ORGANIZATION.
