Naimi and his party heard from Majid Y. Al-Mugla, general manager of Northern Area Projects; and Ali H. Al-Ghamdi, acting manager of the Northern Area Producing Engineering Department. The two covered a range of topics concerning the plants' processing facilities, communications networks, technological innovations and best practices. They also spoke of new concepts applied to well drilling and field development that will result in intelligent wells, faster construction times and better environmental protection. The visiting delegation also toured a contractor's workshop, where gigantic steel tanks used to process natural gas liquids are being manufactured. The steel tanks weigh about 1,100 tons each, and are among the largest in the world. Khursaniyah will gather oil and gas from three fields: Abu Hadriya, Fadhili and Khursaniyah. It is designed to produce 500,000 barrels per day (bpd) of Arabian light mix and 1 billion standard cubic feet per day (scfd) of natural gas in addition to gas liquids. It is considered an important part of Saudi Aramco's plan to reach its maximum production capacity of 12 million bpd in 2009. Site work at Khursaniyah is on track for completion in 2007. --MORE 25/06/2006 11:18 ت م
