Under the patronage of King Mohammed VI of Morocco, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization -ISESCO- is playing host, on 28-29 June 2006, at its permanent headquarters in Rabat, to the Conference of Elected Representatives of the Mediterranean,within the framework of cooperation between the Islamic Organization and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization -UNESCO-. Taking part in the conference will be the heads of parliamentary commissions for education and sciences in the Mediterranean countries. Held on a regular basis by UNESCO in several other regions, this conference is, for the first time, convened jointly with ISESCO. The opening session will be addressed by Dr. Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri, Director General of ISESCO, Dr. Ahmed Sayyad, Assistant Director-General of UNESCO for External Relations and Cooperation, alongside the participating parliamentarians.
