AROUND A QUARTER OF GLOBAL DISEASE AND ALMOST A QUARTER OF ALL DEATHS ARE CAUSED BY ENVIRONMENTAL RISKS, A NEW REPORT BY THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO) SAYS. IT ESTIMATES MORE THAN 13 MILLION LIVES ARE LOST EVERY YEAR DUE TO AVOIDABLE CAUSES AND IT RECKONS A THIRD OF DISEASE IN CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 5 CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS. TACKLING ENVIRONMENTAL RISKS COULD SAVE UP TO 4 MILLION LIVES A YEAR, ACCORDING TO THE REPORT, MAINLY IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES.
