President Pervez Musharraf leaves for China to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, officials said. They added that he would have a hectic schedule of diplomatic engagements in Shanghai. Besides addressing the preliminary session of the SCO on June 15, Musharraf will hold bilateral meetings with top leaders of the participating countries. Chinese President Hu Jintao, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Afghan President Hamid Karzai will be among the leaders attending the moot that brings together major regional countries at the forum. Officials said the high-profile event and the bilateral meetings would help strengthen political and economic partnership among the SCO members and observer countries. The SCO has announced that some 15 important agreements are to be signed at the summit. These will serve as guideline documents on matters like security issues, and economic and trade cooperation. These will impart a new vitality to the development of the Organisation.
