U.S. President George W. Bush will meet in Washington with visiting President Paul Kagame of Rwanda next week for talks on development, Sudan, AIDS relief, and other topics, the White House announced Thursday. “President Bush looks forward to discussing our excellent bilateral relations, including Rwanda's successful participation in the president's emergency plan for AIDS relief,” the White House said of the May 31 meeting. “The leaders will also discuss Rwanda's strides towards reconciliation, democracy and inclusiveness, and the important role of women in advancing these vital objectives,” the White House wrote, adding that Rwanda's role as a contributor to peacekeeping in Sudan is also on the agenda. Bush and Kagame also will talk about the United States role in assisting Rwanda's economic growth and development through trade, aid, and investment, the White House said.
