Minister of Transport Dr Jubara Al-Sureisri signed here today a contract for setting up a supporting containers station at the Islamic Port of Jeddah with Tasdeer company, an affiliate of SISCO company. The new station, which is expected to have the capacity of about 1.5 million containers annually, will include a handling and storage zone with an area of 400,000 square meters at a total cost of SR 1.662 billion. The project is expected to be executed within three years. The new station, which will include the most sophisticated technology in the field of shipping, will make it possible for the seaport to receive gigantic ships.
