Assistant Chairman of Shoura (consultative) Council Dr.Saleh bin Saud Al-Ali met here today Speaker of Uruguayan House of Representatives Julio Gardosu on the fringes of the 114th meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary (IPU) Union hosted by Kenya. Al-Ali also met with IPU Secretary General Anders B. Johnsson. During the meetings, they reviewed issues of mutual interest. Meanwhile, Dr.Mohammad Al-Hilwa, a member of IPU, presented a working paper on the commission of international security and peace about the parliaments' role in combating weapons' smuggling, pointing out that internal conflicts and the spread of terrorism in third world countries prompt terrorist groups to look for weapons. He called for the legislation of strict national laws and measures against those who try to smuggle weapons and reinforcing the bilateral agreements pertaining to organizing and controlling the weapons.
