AT LEAST FOUR PEOPLE WERE KILLED SUNDAY BY A LANDSLIDE ON THE POPULAR ITALIAN RESORT ISLAND OF ISCHIA, OFFICIALS SAID, ACCORDING TO DPA. ALL FOUR VICTIMS WERE APPARENTLY MEMBERS OF THE SAME FAMILY WHOSE HOUSE HAD BEEN BURIED BY THE MUDSLIDE. TWO OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS, REPORTED TO BE A WOMAN AND A 3-YEAR-OLD CHILD, WERE RESCUED FROM THE HOUSE BY EMERGENCY SERVICES. FURTHER DETAILS WERE NOT IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE. INITIAL REPORTS HOWEVER LOCATED THE SCENE OF THE TRAGEDY IN A SPARSELY POPULATED CENTRAL MOUNTAIN REGION OF THE ISLAND. ISCHIA LIES JUST OFF THE CENTRAL ITALIAN CITY OF NAPLES AND IS ONE OF ITALY'S MOST POPULAR ISLAND DESTINATIONS FOR TOURISTS.
