ALGERIAN PRESIDENT ABDELAZIZ BOUTEFLIKA HAS UNDERGONE A VERY SATISFACTORY ROUTINE HEALTH CHECK-UP IN FRANCE, HIS OFFICE SAID IN A STATEMENT ON SATURDAY.
"THE POST-OPERATIVE RESULT WAS DECLARED VERY SATISFACTORY," THE STATEMENT, CARRIED ON THE OFFICIAL NEWS AGENCY APS, SAID, REFERRING TO AN OPERATION HE UNDERWENT IN FRANCE LATE LAST YEAR.
IT ADDED BOUTEFLIKA LEFT THE VAL DE GRACE HOSPITAL IN PARIS ON FRIDAY.
ON THURSDAY AUTHORITIES IN FRANCE AND ALGERIA ANNOUNCED THAT BOUTEFLIKA HAD UNDERGONE MEDICAL CHECKS IN A TOP FRENCH MILITARY HOSPITAL, WHERE THE 69-YEAR-OLD LEADER WAS OPERATED ON FOR A HAEMORRHAGIC STOMACH ULCER IN DECEMBER.
THEY SAID IT WAS A ROUTINE FOLLOW-UP VISIT AND HAD LONG BEEN PLANNED.
