President George W. Bush said Thursday that China must move to a flexible, market-based currency as a way to address the trade imbalance between the two countries. "We expect China to live up to its commitments," Bush said, increasing pressure on Chinese President Hu Jintao ahead of their White House talks next week. China needs to enforce intellectual-property rights, take additional steps to address the U.S.-Chinese trade imbalance, and "move to a flexible, market-based currency," Bush told small business leaders in Washington.
