At least 40 people were killed and several others wounded Tuesday when a bomb blast ripped through a gathering of worshippers in Pakistan's southern city of Karachi, reported dpa. Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao confirmed 40 dead in the blast that occurred at Nishter Park when people were gathering for a religious assembly. However, Pakistan's private GEO TV quoted officials and witnesses as claiming 47 deaths in the blast. Witnesses suspected it to be a suicide attack as the blast did not cause any crater on the ground. But Interior Minister Sherpao said it was difficult to confirm at the moment whether or not it was a suicide bombing.
