Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz, Chairman of Arab Childhood and Development Council and President of Arab Gulf Program for United Nations Development Organizations (AGFUND) and Jordan's Queen Rania co-chaired here on Wednesday the 5th meeting of the board of trustees of Open Arab University. In a statement, Prince Turki bin Talal, Advisor to the Board's chairman pointed out that the University's six branches in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Egypt, Bahrain, Jordan and Lebanon include 20,000 students. In a press statement on the fringes of the meeting, Prince Talal bin Abdulaziz stressed the pressing need of the Arab world for more interest in public education. Prince Talal pointed to the Bank for the Poor recently inaugurated in Jordan which distributed loan certificates to 500 families, affirming that the bank will inaugurate three centers in Jordan and will provide loans for another 500 families in the next four months. Prince Talal indicated that Lebanon has agreed on the establishment of Bank for the Poor. He called for the return of Arab minds immigrated abroad through the tackling of local reasons behind their immigration.
