IN THE PRESENCE OF MINISTER OF HIGHER EDUCATION DR. KHALID BIN MUHAMMAD AL-ANQARI AND MINISTER OF PETROLEUM AND MINERAL RESOURCES ALI BIN IBRAHIM AL-NAIMI, KING FAHD UNIVERSITY FOR PETROLEUM AND MINERALS (KFUPM) AND SCHLUMBERGER COMPANY OPEN ON SATURDAY SCHLUMBERGER RESEARCH CENTER (SRC) IN DHAHRAN AS THE FIRST RESEARCH CENTER ESTABLISHED BY A HUGE COMPANY IN UNIVERSITY'S KING ABDULLAH SCIENCE COMPLEX. THE RESEARCH CENTER WILL DEPEND ON THE LATEST TECHNOLOGIES IN OIL FIELD AND WILL HAVE A GROUP OF DISTINGUISHED SCIENTISTS IN THE FIELDS OF PETROLEUM AND GAS. THE CENTER AIMS AT DEVELOPING TECHNOLOGIES IN THAT FIELD THROUGH INTERACTION BETWEEN THE COMPANY'S SCIENTISTS AND THEIR UNIVERSITY COUNTERPARTS. THE CENTER ALSO ENCOURAGES INTERNATIONAL AND LOCAL COMPANIES SPECIALIZING IN THE FIELDS OF OIL, PETROCHEMICALS AND SUPPORTIVE TECHNOLOGIES IN ADDITION TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TO COOPERATE WITH KFUPM TO ESTABLISH SUCH CENTERS.
