TOKYO - The Nikkei average finished up 0.50 percent on advances in shares of brokerages including Nomura Holdings Inc. that have increased their dividend forecasts, and after U.S. shares rose sharply. The index finished up 80.68 points at 16,319.04. HONG KONG - Stocks rose as property shares jumped 2 percent, while China plays got a boost from the yuan's largest single-day gain on the dollar since its July revaluation. The benchmark Hang Seng index rose 1.29 percent, or 200.6 points, to close at 15,720.36. SYDNEY - Shares firmed as concerns about higher interest rates in the United States eased somewhat, helping globally geared stocks such as BHP Billiton and Rinker Group. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 Index added 14.1 points, or 0.29 percent, to close at 4,946.3. JOHANNESBURG - Mining stocks like Impala Platinum jumped on a rebound in metals prices as futures-linked buying ahead of a close-out supported the wider market. The All-share index closed at 19,692.84 points, up 403.16 or 2.09 percent. The All Gold index closed at 2,663.01 points, up 56.33 or 2.16 percent, while the Industrial index closed at 14,039.88 points, up 57.7 or 0.41 percent.
