Speaker of the Iranian Shoura (consultative) council Ghulam Ali Haddad Adel has confirmed the keenness of Iran on further enhancing relations with the Arab and Muslim countries. Speaking here today at a meeting with members of the Jordanian-Iranian parliamentary friendship society, Haddad Adel said the greatest shock faced by the Muslim world in the 20th century was the establishment of the Zionist entity near Jordan. He noted that the US military existence in the region as well as the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan aim at having the upper hand on the oil resources in the Middle East and prevention of the awakening of the Muslim world. Haddad Adel reiterated the right of Iran to acquire nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. On his part, head of the Jordanian-Iranian parliamentary friendship society Mohammed Bani Hani emphasized the readiness of Jordan to cement its political, economic and cultural relations with Iran.
