A car bomb exploded in a crowded market in Iraq's southern city of Kerbala on Saturday, killing at least seven people and wounding 16, police said. The blast hit Kerbala soon after gunmen stormed a house near the city of Baquba north of Baghdad and killed 12 members of a family. The car was parked on a main road in a crowded residential area in the west of Kerbala, witnesses said. It was detonated by remote control at around 11 a.m. (0800 GMT), when the street market was packed with weekend shoppers, witnesses and the Kerbala governor was quoted as saying by Reuters.
