Pakistan's Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz Tuesday emphasized the need for developing appropriate technologies and urged the OIC organ "COMSTECH" to find ways to ensure energy, water and food security for the future development of the Islamic world. Addressing the inaugural session of 12th session of the General Assembly of COMSTECH (Committee on Science and Technology) yesterday in Islamabad at the Convention Centre, he said to reap the benefits of science and technology for growth and development, there is a vital need to develop Muslim world's human resources. The Prime Minister asked the Muslim countries to set aside a small portion of their GDP for development of science and technology on priority basis. For this the Muslim states should follow the suggestion of the third extraordinary OIC summit held in Makkah to spend one per cent of their GDP on science and technology, he was quoted as saying by the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP). --MORE 13 13 Local Time 10 13 GMT
