Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jabr al-Thani arrived in Syria Tuesday at the head of an economic delegation to discuss bilateral ties and "projects of mutual interest." Sheikh Hamad, who was welcomed on his arrival by Syrian counterpart Walid Moallem, said he bore a "personal message" on bilateral ties and regional issues from Qatari leader Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani for Syrian Prime Minister Bashar Assad. The Sheikh was accompanied by business leaders as well as the Qatari finance minister and was due to meet Assad and economic experts. Mostafa Kafri, head of the Syrian Investment Office told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that the visit was aimed at "developing economic relations" and attracting Qatari investments. --SP 23 53 Local Time 20 53 GMT
