Pakistan wants to introduce a new resolution in the United Nations to help guide the governments on the issue of blasphemy, Pakistan's permanent representative at UN Masood Khan has said. In an interview with BBC, he said, "We are thinking to introduce a new resolution or form a new convention so that it may guide all the governments regarding the issue of blasphemy." "Pakistan is also trying for the implementation of existing conventions", Masood Khan said. "Pakistan has comprehensive and clear policy on the issue of blasphemy. We want to take up the issue in the European Parliament and in all the European capitals", he said. Masood Khan said an emergency meeting of a panel of the OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference) was convened in Geneva and its second session would be held on February 20. He said, "We are in contact with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights for further steps against blasphemy." To a question he said, "Pakistan wants revision of resolutions, conventions regarding racism and covenant of civil and political rights." To another question, he said OIC secretary General Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu is in touch with the UN Secretary General and European Foreign Policy Chief. "All the Muslim countries are united on the issue of blasphemy," he added.
