The U.S. House of Representatives Thursday passed a resolution condemning Iran's alleged nuclear weapons program, and urging the international community to impose sanctions on the country The measure, which is non-binding, passed 404-4 and follows a similar resolution passed by the Senate last month. The House of Representatives resolution backed efforts to bring Iran before the United Nations Security Council and also says Iran has "forfeited the right to develop any aspect of a nuclear fuel cycle" because it has failed to resolve suspicions that it is trying to build nuclear bombs. The International Atomic Energy Agency, the United Nation nuclear watchdog, has not been able to verify that Iran's atomic program is for peaceful uses, but it has found no hard proof that the country is seeking nuclear arms. House Speaker Dennis Hastert (Republican from Illinois), said the Iranian government "has blatantly ignored its international obligations ... and instead headed down a path of dangerous, deadly destruction."
