Saudi researchers in the Eastern Province appear to have found a cure for Dengue fever according to a report carried Wednesday by the Arabic-language daily, "Al-Watan." Mohammad Sulaiman Shadli Abdullah, chief of team of researchers from King Faisal University's Veterinarian Medicine in Hufouf, told Al-Watan he had patented a fungus that can kill mosquito larvae in his name at the US Diseases Center in the state of Georgia. According to Shadli Abdullah, the fungus can kill families of mosquitoes within two hours after reaching larvae lurking in still water pools. Shadli, who is head of King Faisal University s Micro-Organisms and Parasites Department, said the fungus starts to act in the early hours of the morning, two hours before sunrise. Three hours later it destroys approximately 90 percent of disease transmitting larvae.
