Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed in a letter to the Imam of the largest mosque in New Delhi his deep concern over the blasphemous caricatures of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) published in some European newspapers and the violence that follows their publication. Singh reaffirmed that India has conveyed its protests to the Danish government through its embassy pointing out that the Indian government is committed to religious harmony and tolerance under the umbrella of pluralism. Ahmad Bukhari , Imam of the largest mosque in New Delhi, answered Singh in a letter urging the government not to remain silent toward an issue that hurts the feelings of millions of Muslim Indians.
