The joint meeting of Arab and South America Ministers of Culture started in Algiers today. Saudi Arabia's delegation to the conference is led by Prince Turki bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Assistant Minister of Culture and Information, who deputizes the minister Iyad bin Ameen Madani. Addressing the conference, Prince Turki pointed out that arts and literature and other aspects of the peoples' culture widely contribute to the spread of the culture of tolerance, peace and co-existence in the world of today. Accordingly, this helps lessening the possibilities of military disputes and cools down political tensions. He said the very meeting of representatives of the two great blocs of Arab and South America gives a strong signal that they are determined to probe and draw the joint cultural points and ways of rapprochement rather than difference. He cast light on the important role of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in creating harmony and tolerance among the different cultural groups of the same country.
