The two foreign engineers kidnapped in an ambush in western Baghdad on Wednesday were Kenyans, their employer said, AP reported. Naguib Sawiris, chairman of the Egyptian cell phone giant Orascom, confirmed that the two men were from Kenya, correcting an earlier statement made by Orascom subsidiary Iraqna that they were from Malawi and Madagascar. Six security guards were killed when the convoy was attacked by heavily armed insurgents in western Baghdad. Iraqna, a cell phone company owned by Orascom, issued a statement saying at the convoy was attacked about 8 a.m. in the capital's Nafaq al-Shurta area. Sawiris said two of the kidnappers were killed in the ensuing shootout and there was no immediate word the perpetrators of the attack or whether they were making any demands.
