Taiwan and Chad signed an agreement on Wednesday providing for joint oil exploration in Chad, the state-run Chinese Petroleum Corporation (CPC) said, according to DPA. Under the four-year contract, CPC and Chadian oil companies will drill for oil in three areas, including the Lake Chad basin and the Doba basin, with CPC planning to invest 30 million dollars in the project, the Taiwanese company said in a statement. The contract was signed by CPC vice chairman Chiu Chi-hsiung and Chadian oil minister Mahamat Nasser Hassane at CPC offices in Taipei.
