Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadi-Nejad and Tajikistani President Emomali Rahmonov have stressed the need for improving the bilateral relations between the two countries. According to Iranian News Agencies, Ahmadi-Nejad said that the two countries have done a lot to achieve economic progress through constructing roads and decreasing trade Tariff pointing out that investors and private sector can participate to accomplish greater bilateral cooperation. On the other hand, Rahmonov said that strengthening the bilateral relations serve the interests of both countries and the region in general, pointing out that the two countries need peace and stability to achieve more economic progress. Rahmonov also called for cooperation in the fields of drugs smuggling, terrorism and extremism in the region. He reaffirmed the existing cooperation among the two countries, the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) and Shanghai Economic Organization.
