Five people died and 12 others were injured when a bus overturned in Harare Sunday, national radio reported according to dpa. The bus was travelling between the city centre and the densely populated suburb of Dzivaresekwa when it burst a tyre and overturned, the report said. "Eyewitnesses said the commuter omnibus burst its rear tyre as the driver tried to overtake another vehicle," it said. The injured were ferried to Harare and Parirenyatwa hospitals. Most Zimbabwean commuters depend on minibuses, known as commuter omnibuses, for transport in urban centres. But the bus operators complain that Zimbabwe's severe foreign currency shortages mean that they are unable to buy desperately- needed spares and new tyres for example are expensive. The operators also complain that they do not have access to sufficient fuel to run their businesses.
