Czech gas supplies transported from Russia via Ukraine have not been affected by Russia's halt in supplies to Ukraine, RWE Transgas, Reuters quoted a unit of Germany's RWE as saying on Monday. Russia's Gazprom cut supplies to Ukraine on Sunday because of a price dispute and some importers in wintry Europe have reported a drop in their supplies. The Czechs receive around two-thirds of their gas from Russia, the rest coming from Norway. "We haven't noticed any changes in the supplies. There has been no drop," RWE Transgas spokesman Martin Chalupsky said. Most pipelines taking Russian gas to European countries cross Ukraine, and the cut in supplies to Ukraine quickly affected central Europe, with Austria, Hungary and Poland all reporting sharply reduced deliveries. Chalupsky would not elaborate on why the Czechs were so far unaffected by the crisis. He said RWE Transgas, the dominant Czech gas importer and distributor accounting for well over 90 percent of the country's needs, would provide more information later in the day.
