A man with joint Lebanese and Cypriot nationality has been released after four months captivity by unknown gunmen in Iraq, the foreign ministry in Cyprus said on Sunday, according to Reuters. The man, who authorities identified as Karabet Jikejian, 41, was abducted in Baghdad in late August 2005. He was released in Iraq on Saturday. "The family of the man informed us that it (the hostage taking) was over," a Cypriot foreign ministry official said. Jikejian, of Armenian descent, had been working for an import company in Iraq when he was captured by a group of militants who demanded a ransom for his release.
