Dr. Salih bin Abdullah bin Homaid, the Chairman of the Shoura Council, left here tonight after taking part in the Transitional Arab Parliament's first meeting held today at the headquarters of the Arab League. He was seen off by Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the AL Ahmed Gattan and a number of officials. In a departure statement, bin Homaid described the convening of the meeting as unprecedented, hoping that the move would be a first step towards Arab solidarity. He described the election process of the Arab parliaments' new chairman as cordial after the withdrawal of the Sudanese and Yemeni candidates, paving the way for the Kuwaiti rival to win unanimously. Bin Homaid's accompanying delegation is staying in Cairo to attend the remaining sessions of the parliament.
