Bulgaria welcomed a Libyan court decision to scrap the death sentences of five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor and order a retrial, a government official said on Sunday. "The retrial opens new chances to achieve what the defense, and I believe all Bulgarians, want," Reuters quoted Bulgarian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Dimitar Tsanchev as saying. "Our first reaction to the ruling is positive, as long as the retrial and the repeal of the death sentences is a recognition of the serious procedural breaches in the trial. The ruling also means that the arguments of the defense, brought up in the courtroom, have been acknowledged".
