U.S. stocks edge up on aircraft orders data 2 New York (reopens)

heavy Nasdaq composite index rose 14.83, or nearly 0.7 percent, to 2,246.49. Shares of Red Hat jumped over 4 percent after the
Linux software distributor reported better-than-expected sales. Shares of Research in Motion rose 11 percent and Tibco Software rose 7 percent after
the two companies each reported better-than-expected profit.
The New York Stock Exchange composite index rose 27.02 to 7,833.77. The American Stock Exchange composite index rose 12.61 to 1,765.70. And
the Russell 2000 index rose 4.34 to 684.08.
