Boeing Company is close to beating French rival Airbus for a deal with Singapore Airlines worth more than $10 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. "The indication is [for] an order made up mostly of the 777-200LRs and a significant number of the 787 Dreamliners. A few-five or six-of the 747-Advance freighters may also be part of the order," the newspaper's website quoted an unnamed source as saying. A Singapore Airlines spokesman said that the company had not made a decision yet and that an announcement is not imminent. Industry sources have said that Singapore Airlines is considering as many as 70 wide-body airplanes for its fleet, with the three Boeing models competing against Airbus' A350, A340, and A380. Boeing has recently been far outselling Airbus. The U.S. aerospace giant reportedly booked 148 orders in November, many of them at the Dubai air show.
