A bus carrying dozens of Italian tourists tipped over Friday on a road in Portugal's Madeira Islands, killing five people and injuring a number of others, news reports said. The bus was carrying about 50 Italian tourists who had arrived on a cruise ship called Costa Atlantica that stopped off at the archipelago, Lisbon radio station TSF said. The report, which initially said six had died but later corrected the toll to five, did not specify the victims' nationalities. An unspecified number of injured were taken to Cruz Carvalho Hospital in Funchal, the archipelago's capital city. Officials at the islands' emergency service headquarters and at the hospital, reached by telephone, declined to comment, saying to the Associated Press a statement was being prepared. The name of the cruise company was not immediately available. --More 01 00 Local Time 22 00 GMT
