Six Ukrainian fishermen died after their boats overturned in a lake, Ukraine's Ministry of Emergency Situations reported on Wednesday, according to DPA. The mishap took place on the Sassyk lake in the southern Odessa region when stormy winter weather struck the two boats shortly after midnight. The fishermen were unable to right their boats or reach land, and died of exposure. Air temperatures at the time were between four and six degrees below freezing. Rescue teams discovered the fishermen's bodies the next morning. The boats had been in poor repair, and apparently overloaded, at the time of the accident, the report said. The oldest fisherman was 42, and the youngest 24, said Lilia Yakovska, a government spokeswoman.
