Thirty West African migrants drowned at the weekend off the coast of Mauritania when their boat sank as it headed for Spain's Canary Islands, port sources in the city of Nouadhibou said on Monday, according to Reuters. They said Mauritanian coastguards rescued 14 people from the vessel, adding it was not clear whether the boat sank due to overloading or bad weather.
