Iran's President Mahmud Ahmadi Nejad described the Third Extraordinary Islamic Summit as important and came in an appropriate time in response to a call by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz to discuss the latest developments and challenges facing the Muslim nation. In a press conference here today attended by the Minister of Culture and Information Iyad bin Amin Madani, the Iranian President stressed that Saudi-Iranian relations are growing, noting that the two countries are important and influential in the region and the Muslim world. There are many joint points between the two countries and their viewpoints are close, the President said. He added that experience has emphasized that the unity of Islamic countries will be in the interest of enhancing lasting peace, stability and security for all peoples. The President called for the self-determination right to the Palestinian people. On Iran's negotiations with the International Atomic Energy Agency, he said that his country has been one of the first which signed the Agency's agreement and it is one of its members.
