U.S. President George W. Bush said on Wednesday that Iraqi security forces are increasingly taking on larger responsibilities against the Iraqi insurgency and asked Americans for patience, according to Reuters. "Our goal is to train enough Iraqi forces so they can carry the fight and this will take time and patience. And it's worth the time and it's worth the effort," Bush said in a speech at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Bush said the U.S. goal is for Iraqis to take the lead in the fight against the insurgents and eventually take responsibility without "major foreign assistance."
