An explosion at a coal mine in northeastern China has killed at least 68 miners and has left another 79 trapped underground, according to the nation's state-run Xinhua news agency. More than 220 miners were underground in the Dongfeng coal mine in Qitaihe, Heilongjiang province, when the blast struck on Sunday evening. About 40 of the miners were able to escape just after the blast, the report said.
