A Palestinian teen-ager who was playing with a cap gun was shot and lightly wounded Friday by Israeli soldiers who thought he was firing a real weapon, Palestinians and the army said, AP reported. Soldiers were called to the scene when an Israeli woman driving near the West Bank village of Silwad north of Ramallah reported hearing shooting, the army said. The soldiers saw the Palestinian teen with a gun in his hand and shot toward him, the army said. Only once the youth was hit did soldiers realize he had been holding a toy gun. Stones and firebombs are frequently thrown from Silwad at Israelis traveling on the road, residents said. Earlier this month Israeli troops shot and killed a 12-year-old Palestinian boy who was playing with a toy gun in the West Bank town of Jenin. --SP 2152 Local Time 1852 GMT
