U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan arrived in Baghdad Saturday for a meeting with Iraqi leaders, the prime minister's spokesman said. Annan was expected to hold a press conference with Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari at midday Saturday, government spokesman Leith Kubba said. Annan's arrival follows consecutive meetings with British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and U.S. Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, The Associated Press reported.
