U.S. President George W. Bush released a statement Friday wishing American Muslims and Muslims around the world a happy Eid. Muslims, who have been observing the month of Ramadan, began the Eid celebrations Thursday. Eid marks the end of a month of fasting from dawn to dusk. "Many American Muslims have reached out to the victims of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma," Bush said in a statement released at the Summit of the Americas in Mar del Plata, Argentina. "Their contributions … reflect the important values shared by all Americans." America "is blessed to count many Muslims among our fellow citizens," Bush said.
