China has donated three million dollars of military equipment to Nigeria, the ministry of defence in Abuja confirmed on Thursday, according to DPA. The equipment includes two special vehicles, emergency runway systems, bullet proof helmets and vests, communication gadgets, computers, uniforms and diving devices. Receiving the equipment, Nigeria's Minister of Defence, Rabiu Kankwanso, said the donation was a result of a bilateral military agreement between China and Nigeria. Kankwanso said Nigeria bought 12 multi-role aircraft, two training aircraft and other military hardware from China in 2001 as part of its obligation in the agreement. Earlier, the Chinese ambassador in Nigeria, Wang Yongqin, said items donated to Nigeria were symbolic signs of cordial relationship between the two countries. Yongqin said the items were also meant to boost Nigeria's peace- keeping activities on the African continent. He said 21 Chinese experts would arrive in Nigeria in November to train Nigerian soldiers on how to use the equipment.
